Summer is here! We’re ready for all the things - cookouts, lazy Saturdays in the sun and summer reading. Spending the day by the pool? Looking for a great beach read? Just hoping to expand your library with some business, inspirational or fun reads? We’re always looking for good book recommendations, and we’ve put together our ultimate summer reading guide of books we love.
Business
1. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
What can we say about this book? It’s just so good! If you’re looking for a spark for your small business, this is it!
2. Your Best Year Ever by Michael Hyatt
Michael is the epitome of a smart business man! His tips for organization and goal setting are sure to provide you with your best year ever.
3. Business Boutique by Christy Wright
We are huge fans of Dave Ramsey, and Christy is his trusted voice on all things small business. She knows her stuff when it comes to positioning your business for success.
Gary is hilarious and talented! This book was recommended by another small business owner, and we took away so many great ideas for growing our business. A must read!
Inspirational
5. Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
This book spoke straight to our souls on a deep level! Rachel is talented and poignant when it comes to sharing her business and personal growth. She has a story for everyone in this book!
6. Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
Ummm, yes please! Present over perfect is all about slowing down and soaking up the here and now. Don’t worry about being perfect, just be present.
7. Of Mess and Moxie by Jen Hatmaker
Jen Hatmaker is our spirit animal. For real! She’s a woman after God with a great sense of humor. We highly recommend this book and our other favorite of her’s, “For the Love.” Listen on audio book if you can - Jen reads them!
8. A Simplified Life by Emily Ley
This book sparked a revolution in our lives! Cutting down to the best, favorite and necessary and forgetting the rest. Check out Emily’s book for ways you can simplify your whole life. You will not regret picking up this book!
Fun
9. Sisters First by Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush
We love this book for obvious reasons - twin sisters! This is an amazing look into being sisters and growing up in the spotlight - more specifically, the White House! A great pool read!
10. An American Marriage by Tayari Jones
This fiction read is an interesting story! There are some twists and turns with the characters that you simply don’t expect. When it makes Oprah’s Book Club, you know it’s good!
11. The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines
Let’s face it - we love Chip and JoJo! Their story is an incredible testament to hard work, good business sense and staying true to your self. We love these two and we loved them even more after reading their story!
12. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
An oldie, but SUCH a goodie! We read this book for the first time more than a decade ago, and we’ve probably read it dozens more times since then. Jeannette chronicles her life growing up in southern West Virginia and it speaks straight to our heart.
