When you plan for an outdoor winter editorial shoot, the one element that you pray for is snow, and when we collaborated for this January shoot, we were lucky to get just that! As temperatures dipped into the low 30s, our models were toughing out the bitter cold with no snow in sight. Lara-Jill Reynolds of Simply Gorgeous Events worked to make every last detail perfect as Kara Blakeman of Kara Blakeman Photography and Chelsey Rocha of Rocha & Co. Photography hurried to capture all of the beautiful moments while trying to beat the cold.
Paige Winters and Kaitlin Walker of W Rentals and Events provided beautiful cross-back chairs and gorgeous tableware to create a dreamy winter scene in hues of rich navy and deep burgundy, and floral arrangements created by Lara-Jill provided the perfect elements of blush and berries.
As the shoot was nearing it’s end, the sky started to open up and snow began to fall. While our models sipped cranberry champagne, Kara and Chelsey captured the most beautiful snowflake portraits.
These beautiful winter elements and the addition of God’s gorgeous snow, provided just the right mix for The Perfect Palette‘s June blog feature. As temperatures are heating up outside, this snow-filled editorial was the perfect mix for beating the heat and providing the perfect inspiration for upcoming winter weddings.
When Chelsey and Kara approached us about creating the stationery for this shoot, we had the perfect details in mind. We knew we wanted whimsical fonts, thick cotton paper and delicately deckled edging. In addition, we knew that we wanted to incorporate the beauty and timelessness of a golden wax seal and we carried that detail from the tablescape menus to the insert card that was enclosed in the wedding suite.
One of our favorite wedding suite elements is the addition of an envelope liner – we never let a suite leave the studio without one. We loved mixing a matte navy envelope with a pop of burgundy on the inside. We topped off the mailing envelope with vintage stamps in a variety of matching hues.
Finally, the cherry on top of this suite was the addition of the burgundy , velvet ribbon. In our initial sketches of this suite we envisioned a silk ribbon tie, but as our vision developed further, we knew that a richer texture was needed to compliment the delicate nature of the suite. We loved that Lara-Jill continued the velvet ribbon throughout the shoot in the floral bouquets and on the table.
Finally, the tablescape included place cards and table numbers that we watercolor washed and handlettered. We loved this little detail that truly added an extra level of dimension for the table.
